Weather:<\/strong> Sunny but a little breezy
\nSea Conditions:<\/strong> Flat!<\/h3>\n
\n

Callum up at 7.30 \u2013 and a window seat at Breakfast made his day.\u00a0 He was convinced it was because he said Good Morning to all the Waiters\u2019 on the way to the table!<\/p>\n

Callum was dropped off to Kids Club so Jon and I could go to Atul Kochhar\u2019s Cooking Demo in Playhouse.\u00a0 We managed to get pretty good seats, but as it turned out, the whole of the theatre could smell the aromas coming from the stage.\u00a0 He cooked the Lamb Rogan Josh and the Beef on Skewers then showed us how to prepare tandoori chicken.<\/p>\n

Great rappore between Atul and Neil Oliver but sadly Praboo was very quiet today!\u00a0 Atul talked about the fun he has with James Martin when he appears on Saturday Kitchen \u2013 although the 4.30am start can be a little tiring.\u00a0 He also said how professional James\u2019 is at keeping the show going when things go wrong.<\/p>\n

He also plugged his book that is being launched in September \u2013 “Curries from Around the World” which sounds fab.\u00a0 The age of spices in your cupboards at home was also talked about and gave a few suggestions of where spices in small quantities can be purchased.\u00a0 Some people did admit to having spices in their cupboard from the 1970\u2019s (and I\u2019m sure you do too Mum!!)<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Rather than stay and sit for the Gibraltar Port talk (seats aren\u2019t the most comfortable although leg room is good!), we decided to grab a coffee in The Glass House.\u00a0 We were earwigging on the second wine tasting session and heard there was a problem with the Albarino White they serve.\u00a0 It\u2019s inconsistent and they substituted it for a Gewurztraminer for that wine tasting session.<\/p>\n

Rogan Josh was the special for Nashta so we had lunch there.\u00a0 Jon and Callum had tasting plates whilst I went for the Special, Rogan Josh.\u00a0 It was fabulous and even Jon (who rarely eats lamb) thought it tasted pretty good too.<\/p>\n

Today was Pirate Day in kids club.\u00a0 Callum had made his hat and sword that morning and there would be a Pirate Show by the Terrace Pool in the afternoon.\u00a0 I headed out the back to the Terrace Pool to watch the show whilst Jon went to the Bridge Talk.<\/p>\n

The Bridge Talk was once again really interesting.\u00a0 Pretty similar to last time.\u00a0 During the talk, there was an \u201cAlpha \u2013 Alpha\u201d Emergency call from the Bridge to an incident in Manhattan.\u00a0 Jon thought for one moment that the 3rd<\/sup> Officer giving the talk was going to do a runner to the emergency.\u00a0 He later found out it was a medical emergency as a stretcher was seen taking somone away to the medical centre.\u00a0 No-one dared ask what a code \u201cAlpha – Alpha\u201d meant though.<\/p>\n

Some interesting questions were asked \u2026 such as why we ended up spinning around so much before we left Korcula.\u00a0 It was the winds pushing the ship around so much that the anchor chain had crossed the bulbous bow so they needed to get that rectified before they could pull the anchor up.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the pirate fight between Caribbean Crystal and Capt Sparrow was taking part on the decks overlooking the Terrace Pool, much to the amusement of the unsuspecting adults sunbathing around the pool.\u00a0 Needless to say, Caribbean Crystal won and Capt Sparrow ended up in the pool.<\/p>\n

A Pirate Party for the kids followed in Manhattan which all the kids enjoyed and afterwards, Jon and I had a change of scene as the weather was now nice and sunny.\u00a0 We went to Breakers Bar which overlooked the Aqua Pool \u2026 coke, lemonade and we carried on reading.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

We had also received an invite to the Portunus Party in Manhattan (we\u2019re now Sapphire members) and this was the very last ever Portunus Party as the loyalty scheme was switching to the Peninsular Awards going forward.\u00a0 We were surprised the wine served was at least drinkable but alas didn\u2019t win the decanter.<\/p>\n

Capt Paul Brown gave a speech and referred to the 3rd<\/sup> July event.\u00a0 He said Adonia would be leading the fleet out on the day followed by Ventura which he would have the honour of Captaining.<\/p>\n

In the evening we went to the Main Dining Room for Dinner and once more found ourselves seated with the couple from Northwich and two couples (who were travelling together) from Swansea and High Wycombe.<\/p>\n

It turned our Christine and her hubby were singing in the choir (thank goodness we hadn\u2019t dug ourselves a hole previously!).\u00a0 The chap I was sat next to couldn\u2019t stop talking (his father was in the Royal Air Force and served alongside Pete Townsend (as in Princess Margaret) and three of this four were very keen sailors.<\/p>\n

Callum was happy enough to be signed over to Slumber time this evening which left Jon and I free to go to the James Bond Quiz night in Brodies.\u00a0 The place was packed when we got there \u2026 Liverpool were still playing Blackburn and we arrived in time to see Andy Carroll score the Injury Time winner.<\/p>\n

We did the quiz \u2026 just the two of us and scored 27 points out of 40.\u00a0 Not too bad considering.\u00a0 The winning team of six scored 35, and as usual a couple of people were taking things VERY seriously!<\/p>\n

Callum was flat out when we went back to pick him up and Jon had to give him a fireman\u2019s lift back to the cabin!<\/p>\n
