Jon has always loved the music and the story of War of the Worlds so when he learnt that the Jeff Wayne version of the show was going on tour to mark it’s 40th Anniversary, he booked tickets for us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We needed to get to the O2 so we hot-footed our way there and decided to try and grab brunch there. The O2 was looking very Christmassy but nowhere opened up until 11am so we wandered around trying to decide where to eat – not difficult as very few places open! We managed to time our arrival in Garfunkels to perfection. Ten minutes later and we would be queuing.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\n\nSince we’d last been, a load of shops had opened up at the O2 so we did a circuit of the dome before joining the queue to the Sky Lounge – a perk for all Sky VIPs.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We got in and settled down at a table whilst we waited for the show to start. As it happened, we were right behind the stage where the cast were doing a sound check – we were in for a treat if this was anything to go by.<\/p>\n\n\n

It wasn’t long before we needed to take our seats, ready for the show to start. We were in the “stalls” (not up in the gods) and had a pretty good view of the stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jeff Wayne himself was conducting the orchestra, Liam Neeson was the narrator and Jason Donovan was playing the Preacher. The entire show was just stunning – the story unfolded on the giant screen behind the stage set in Victorian Britain and a huge mechanical alien was suspended above the audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We weren’t quite sure if Callum would enjoy the show and the story – he came out singing the main song so take that as a thumbs up!<\/p>\n
