Ooops \u2013 Callum woke up this morning feeling a little wobbly. He had a temperature and we knew he wasn\u2019t right when he only ate his tomato for breakfast and hardly touched the rest. Didn\u2019t help that we had a bit of a whinge-bag of a lady on the table tutting that we\u2019d ordered food and drink he wasn\u2019t touching! This was really unlike him. Grrr.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We think he was just a little dehydrated \u2013 they don\u2019t bring fruit and drinks out for the kids in Frontiers (as they do in the younger group) \u2013 they help themselves to water out of a tap when they want it and I think he soaked himself doing it the first time, so was a bit scared the same would happen again so he didn’t drink anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had a chat over the balcony with the couple in the cabin next to us. Turns out they are Sunderland Supporters (they spotted Callum\u2019s NUFC Pj\u2019s!) and from Heddon-on-the-Wall. Their son (who is also with them) is starting work for P&O as a cadet and will be heading off to South Shields College when they get back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We decided to go ashore for a bit to stretch our legs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although we weren\u2019t there long, there didn\u2019t seem that much to see. We had a little drink at a caf\u00e9 and decided to head back to the ship, rather than explore any further as Callum wasn’t feeling very well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once back on board, we decided to order room service for lunch. Soup and sandwiches … however about 2 minutes before it arrived, Callum fell asleep on the settee and didn\u2019t stir when the chap brought the food into the cabin! We left him asleep whilst we had our lunch and he slept for an hour. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sleeping during the day is not something Callum has done for over three years! Even when we woke up, he still didn\u2019t eat much, just some crisps and salad \u2013 he didn\u2019t like tuna today \u2013 just for today though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best entertainment of the cruise so far was seen from our balcony. MSC Lyrica had docked behind us and was due to set sail for Madeira at 3.30pm. The cruise seemed to be full of Italians … and a fair few were still strolling up to get back on board at 3.35pm. After this time, passengers laiden down with shopping bags could be seen running down the quayside to get back onboard. The the P&O shuttle bus stopped to drop two more passengers off just before the gangplank was raised at 4pm! Alas we didn\u2019t see any passengers turn up AFTER she\u2019d set sail though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We just had a lazy afternoon about the cabin and balcony. Reading books, doing stickers and watching a bit of Spanish Scooby Do! He started to perk up and wanted to go to kids tea. He just wanted a sandwich, some chips and salad bits and seemed much perkier afterwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although 32 degrees and sun blazing away overhead, there was a really strong sea breeze. Poor Callum was shivering but even he laughed as the only way we could get him to stay out on the balcony was if he wore his thick fleecy jumper (complete with sunglasses)! We eventually managed to get him to take a shower and he started to feel a little more himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Callum was desperate to go to Kids Club this evening. We took him up just before 7pm and explained to the youthies that he was a little under the weather and to page us if he wanted to head back to the cabin early. It was Medieval Day (or Madeira Day as Callum kept calling it). Jon and I went to see Shobna Gulati\u2019s talk. I don\u2019t think she\u2019s done that many of this type of talk before as she seemed incredibly nervous and used her notes a lot. She didn\u2019t do an awful lot of talking, but instead answered a lot of questions.<\/p>\n\n\n

After the talk, we went back to check on Callum \u2013 he was about to start tucking into the Medieval Banquet (Pizza \u2013 that very medieval dish!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We tried out Verona for our evening meal \u2013 it\u2019s an Italian Trattoria of an evening, and we were really surprised how lovely the meal was. I had Antipasto to start whilst Jon had Calamari \u2013 the nicest he\u2019s ever had (and even better than the Calamari they serve in The Glass House). Jon followed this with a 4 cheese pizza and I had the chicken in Madeira Wine Sauce. We even had pudding \u2013 tiramisu for Jon and chocolate truffle torte for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After dinner, we headed straight back to kids club to collect Callum. Another early night(!) and our fingers were crossed he would be back on form tomorrow.<\/p>\n
