Hurrah!! For the first time in an age the weather was sunny and warm. Very different to the torrential rain on the previous three visits which curtailed our exploration of Cheltenham.
With the boys wanting to get back to watch the Bahrain F1 qualifying, we opted to do the Pittville Park Treasure Trail. The park is very close to the Halls of Residence and Callum walks through the park each day to his campus so it’s nice to see a little of his daily walk. A very picturesque walk.
The start of the Treasure Trail was at Holst’s Birth place, back in town. However, as we parked that the Pump Rooms rather than find parking in town, we managed to work out where the trail focussed around the Pump Rooms so we didn’t do retrace our steps.

The Pump Rooms itself was closed for a wedding so we’ll need to explore inside another day. The design of the pump rooms is quite stunning. It has the feel of a Greek temple with pillars standing around the central room. Callum was right when he said it looked like the Temple of Artemis would have looked way back when.
The park was full of families and people enjoying the warm sunshine. Birthday parties, picnics and folks just chilling. Play parks were full! It’s a very pretty park which is just coming into its best with the blossom and trees coming into leaf. Hopefully in the summer, the flowers will add colour.
Out of the park, we headed into Regency Cheltenham. The buildings were stunning – and a quick peek on Rightmove showed they were valued in excess of £2-3 million!! Way outside our budget.

We wound our way back to Holst’s house which featured a clue. We noticed we were very close to the Brewery Quarter so broke off from the trail and headed here for lunch. We’d enjoyed our meal in Brewhouse and Kitchen in Gloucester so we gave the Cheltenham branch a go too. Another great meal and can see this becoming a regular pit-stop.

We retraced our steps to Holst’s house and followed the clues to make our way back to Pittville Park Pump Rooms. A good trail and so pleased we had the opportunity to see a little more of Cheltenham aside from Pittville Student Village and the High Street!
