Basildon Park

We headed over the Basildon Park this morning to meet up with friends and try the Ball Run.  Free entry with National Trust membership and it cost £3 for a ball bag which allowed the three boys to have a go.  The ball bags do tend to sell out from time to time, so if visiting in the summer, it may be worth taking along your own tennis ball.

After walking through the grounds and exploring, the boys wanted to explore inside the house (may have had something to do with the fact it had started raining!).

The house was used as the set for Sense and Sensibility.  Inside was kept as a property from the 1800s with period fixtures and fitting.

The kitchen was updated to a 1950s version complete with cookbooks and equipment from the era.  The boys were very bemused by the whisks and other implements their grandparents & great-grandparents would have used!
