Callum had committed to do the Three Towers Hike with the Scouts at the end of the month. He needed new walking boots so to make sure these are well and truly broken in before the 27km hike, we walked up to Greeham Common.
We headed down to the Kennet and Avon Canal and walked along the tow path for a bit. After a while, we crossed the bridge and took the path up through the farm and up the hill to the far side of Greenham Common. Once there, we walked along to see the Control Tower which had now been restored into a little visitor centre and a coffee shop.
It was really interesting climbing into the control tower and seeing pictures from the 60s and 70s on how the place used to look. Also information on the peace protestors that were camped out by the main gate for many years.

The sun had started to make an appearance when we had finished looking around the control tower so had a quick drink and piece of cake in the coffee shop before heading back home.
When we reached the canal, we noticed an old Pill Box which we had a closer look at (full of rubbish). These are dotted along the canal at various intervals and relics of WW2.
