Read Time:1 Minute, 45 Second

Day out in Windsor to do a Treasure Trail. We opted to get the train in – Thatcham to Reading, Reading to Slough, Slough to Windsor. It took about an hour and 15 mins to get there which wasn’t too bad considering you had two train changes.

The Treasure Trail started at the Station which was rather handy – first stretch was through the shopping area where we discovered a mini-horse trail. Quick download of the app and we found out there were 10 horse so decided to try and find all of them as we wandered around.

We walked around the little shopping centre, out the back through the back streets of Windsor and back into town.

Some rather unusual post boxes along the route too. The green one is a replica Victorian post box.

Up the main shopping street towards the Castle and Guildhall. Along the streets and eventually finding ourselves on the Long Walk.

We walked a very short stretch down the Long Walk – you could just about see King Richard III on his horse at the top of the hill in the distance!.

We headed out of the park and onto the streets of Windsor, this time taking us past the Victoria Barracks, home of the Coldstream Guards.

Back into the lanes around The Guildhall and back to the Castle and the trail finished where we started, at the Station. Time for a bite to eat and as the old station concourse had been developed into a series of shops and restaurants. After much deliberating, we opted for All Bar One. Jon and I went for a series of nibbly dishes and Callum went for a burger.

Fed and watered, we went in search of the last three horses which were all located by the riverside.

Alas “Patience” had been taken to the “vets” but the base was there so we included it in our trail. Thankfully the other two were still there as these were a bit of a trek away from the town.

Trail complete and time to head back to the station and home.
