Sea Day – Crossing the Bay of Biscay
Weather: Sunny
Sea: gentle rolling
Happy Birthday Nic!!
Whilst Jon and I didn’t get a particularly good night’s sleep, Callum did so he was awake bright and early this morning. The ship was gently rolling from side to side which made a change from the last two cruises where the sea was as flat as a pancake! Breakfast was delivered to the cabin at 7am – early morning alarm call for Karen as she was off to get her nails done at 8am!!

Callum loved the Hot Chocolate and luckily managed to keep most of his Rice Krispies in his bowl. A continental breakfast of ham and cheese with bread rolls also met his approval. The ship was deserted as Karen headed to the other end of the ship for her spa – she saw three other people up and about! Up at the spa, there was a huge queue of people waiting to get in to use the gym, the mile walk session or simply going for treatments. On Mum’s recommendation, I had the CHD Shellac system on my nails which is meant to last at least 14 days so we’ll see how quickly I can chip the polish off .
Whilst I was in the Spa, Jon took Callum to Frontiers. He initially wanted to do the football training but when Jon got back to take him to the Sports nets, they were playing Mr Men Memory Cards so decided to stay put.
Once Karen’s treatments were finished, she went to the Madeira Port talk then met up with Jon for a coffee. Callum was collected at 12.15 and as one of the restaurants was doing a light lunch … soup, sandwiches and salad buffet style we opted to go here for lunch rather than do battle at the bun-fight in the buffet. Callum loved the lentil soup then had some cheese & biscuits and prawns, ham and beef on open sandwiches. He then asked what was for lunch … as that was just his starter!!
We went back to the cabin … then Jon spotted some Dolphins. Just to the back of the ship off the starboard side. Callum eventually spotted them through his ‘noculars!

Mr Bump had his party in Manhattan’s this afternoon. With the number of kids involved and a few under twos sticking around from Noddy’s Party, it was a bit chaotic. Party games, dancing and the obligatory photo with Mr Bump though went down a treat.

Back to the cabin to get ready for this evenings formal night. We had canapes delivered to the cabin this evening (on every formal night) and Callum thought this was an extra treat for him!
Canapes eaten and Callum couldn’t wait to get back to Frontiers for the evening so we dropped him off and took the opportunity to get changed into posh frock and DJ and head down early and avoid the Captains Welcome.
After the Easter cruise, we knew the wine wasn’t to our taste and the chaotic scenes that followed in the Meridian Dining Room were to be avoided.

Unfortunately, we got waylaid by a glass of Peller Ice in The Glass House … so when we arrived in the Dining Hall a little before 8pm, there was an hours wait for dinner. This combined with the fact there was no Lobster Thermidor on the menu … to get that, you needed to go to Neptune’s Buffet in the self-serve area.
A quick change of plan and we managed to get a table in Sindhu and had a fabulous meal. Jon had Crab for starters whilst I opted for Chicken Tikka and we both went for lobster for our main. Our meal was washed down with some lovely English Wine (Wickham Vineyards Special Release Fumee, Hampshire).

Afterwards, off to collect Callum from Frontiers and back to the cabin!
