Marlow – Mothers Day Treat at Sindhu

Read Time:2 Minute, 4 Second

We love cruising and love eating in Atul Kochhar’s P&O restaurant, Sindhu, when onboard Azura (and it now features on Ventura and Aurora as well) … and it now you no longer have to go on a cruise to eat in his restaurant.

Sindhu is also located at The Compleat Angler Hotel in Marlow (right by the bridge and the restaurant overlooks the Weir on The Thames.

We decided to have the Set Lunch Menu (£25 per head) and plenty of choice on the menu.  Service was attentive but not intrusive. Everyone appeared to have their table for the duration of lunch service so it was a really relaxed lunch. Drinks were on the expensive side though – £13 for a champagne cocktail, £7 for a mocktail (Callum’s seal of approval here!) and a 175ml glass of wine was between £9-£12.

Meal ordered and we were served some mini poppadoms with various chutneys.  We were then treated to a little amuse-bouche – a small cup of tomato and lentil soup.

Starters were served … chicken, fishcakes and lamb sausage.  We had opted to try two additional accompanyments – crispy chicken and squid rings.  Everything all really tasty – the crispy chicken and squid were real stand-out dishes.

Main courses were all amazing – lamb, chicken supreme and prawns served with lentil dhal and the lightest of naans.

Callum thought we then had a plate of mints … he was about to reach out for one, when the lady came over and poured some hot water over them!!!  Hot Towels!!  They were pretty cool.

Puddings – it turned out I made the best choice – the mango cheese cake was very yummy.  Jon and Callum had the ice cream.  Jon thought this was fairly bland … I tried, one was ginger and the other a butterscotch.  Both boys didn’t finish theirs!!  Callum has learnt a lesson – ask what the flavours are in future!

Meal rounded off with a couple of petit fours.

A really lovely treat for Mothering Sunday – thanks boys xx

Now just got to figure out how to get on one of the Evening Tasting Menus with Atul and a guest chef … and if we can escape without Callum!

Finally, time to head home but not before seeing Sir Nicolas Winton’s bench at Maidenhead Station.  He was dubbed the British Schlinder after smuggling 669 boys and girls, destined for concentration camps, out of Czechoslovakia in 1939.
