Sun, Sail and Friends
A leisurely start to the day – it was really warm today and were able to have breakfast outside (and didn’t need jackets!).
We had a lunch date today – meeting up with Jen and her two boys, Dan and Bradley – Bradley left Francis Baily and moved to Cape Town at the end of Foundation year so we were looking forward to catch up with them.
We had some shopping to do so heading into the Waterfront again this morning. Tickets booked for Robben Island on Tuesday and Callum got his Kaizer Chiefs football shirt in Tornadoes colours. We also picked up a SA Rugby shirt from Mum and Dad for Dan’s Birthday. Finally, as the weather was so lovely, we booked sunset sail tickets for this evening. The morning just flew by and needed to head back to the hotel to meet up with Jen & the boys.
It was really busy at the hotel at lunch time as the weather was really warm (up to 25 degrees … in winter!) but we managed to find a table outside. It was great seeing them all looking so happy and settled out in Cape Town – great life and a great place to live.

Afterwards we headed back to the Waterfront in time to catch our sunset sail. It was a lovely evening and the seas looked fairly calm.
We were entertained by a three-year old called Meeli – he took some photos of his mom on her phone, then was intrigued by our camera and asked really nicely if he could take some photos on our camera. David Bailey in the making as he had a knack for taking photos. The cloud came in just as the sun was setting, but Table Mountain was clearer than we’d seen it all week (and no tablecloth in sight).
Sunset sail over and now the decision was where to eat. Callum decided “meat” and we ended up at City Grill. After much deliberating, Callum decided he would try zebra – a really big decision for Callum as this is his favourite animal. We explained that the zebras we would be eating were zebra that were farmed (not wild!). Jon chose Springbok for main, and the waitress steered me towards the Kudu instead of Warthog. The votes at the end were all for Kudu … although all were very tasty.
Back to the hotel for our pre-bedtime drink. The bar staff now knew Jon’s tipple of choice and as soon as they spotted him, a pint of Jack Black was poured and ready by the time he reached the bar! I wasn’t so easy to guess … would it be a beer or a glass of wine!
Another busy day ahead tomorrow … and another early start!
