Southern Brave v Birmingham Phoenix

Read Time:1 Minute, 8 Second

Our annual trip to watch Southern Brave in the The Hundred and today the Women and the Men would be taking on Birmingham Phoenix.

We were parked up really quickly and took the 20 minute walk to Utilita Bowl. We found our seats quickly. We were in full sun and had left our suncream at home!

The women were up first and they put on an impressive displaying, hitting 139 for 7 wickets. Birmingham Phoenix tried their hardest but the Brave bowlers worked hard and bowled them all out for 124. They would end up reaching the finals but alas their impressive run this season came to an end in the final.

The break in between matches gave us the chance to have a wander around and find some food and some shade!

There’s plenty of choice of food stalls and some are incredibly popular with lengthy queues.

Meanwhile back in the ground, a new band was playing from the commentary booth – not a band we’d heard of previously but they were okay!

Back to the Mens match, and Southern Brave were bowling first. A steady stream of wickets kept the run rate relatively low (not as many as the womens match!), but when the Brave were put in to bat, they were on fire made short work of scoring the required runs with balls to spare.
