A little more relaxed day today and headed down to the Meridian Dining Room at 9.30am. Santorini was a tender port meaning everyone needed to catch a tender ashore. MSC Divina and another smaller cruise ship were in port so it was going to be busy ashore.
Santorini was built on a old volcanic island with steep sides and the town built on the top. The iconic white houses synonymous with the island were very visible.
When we were ready to go ashore, we were directed straight down to the tender docking platform. It was the local boats that were taking us ashore and they could hold 200 or so passengers.
What a nightmare! There were four cruise ships anchored off Santorini today bring around 14,000 passengers to the small island. When we got ashore, we were told the queue for the cable car was 90 minutes – more likely 2 hours. It was incredibly hot so we decided to head back as the queues would be lengthy to come down in the cable car and none of us fancied walking down the path shared with the donkeys! Callum bought a fridge magnet and an ice cream before we caught the tender back to the ship.
Jon looked into a trip to the 3 hour boat trip to the volcano and a 30 min swim (we didn’t think to bring swimwear). Instead, Callum bought a fridge magnet and ice cream and we caught the tender back to Azura. It was quite quiet on the tender and were able to sit on the top deck to get some great photos of the ship as we returned.
We found a table in the shade around Coral Pool and had a go at the Logo Quiz. We ended up getting 25 out of 30 right).
For lunch, Callum and Jon hit the poolside grill whilst I headed into the buffet to grab a salad.
Being out in the sun is hardwork and a siesta may be calling! We grabbed a couple of soft drinks to take back to the cabin and chilled. I started a new book … the Beach Hut Murders: The Charity Shop Detectives.
The menu in the Main Dining Room was uninspiring this evening so we decided to eat in The Glass House. A couple of tasting plates for starters, followed by steak all round. Callum opted for a trio of English desserts this evening. His favourite were the mini Waggon Wheels (they were much bigger back in our day!). Jon and | shared the cheese board. Nice selection of cheeses and Jon was pleasantly surprised by how well the Quince Jam went with the cheese!

For the first time ever, no photos were taken today! It was a lazy sea day and spent the day chilling, getting ready for our return to Valletta so we could explore.
