Split is Croatia’s second largest city and a vibrant coastal hub famous for it’s Diocletian Palace, a 1,700 year old UNESCO site that forms the city centre. Located on the Dalmatian coast, it boasts a lively, urban feel mixed with Roman history and a sparkling sea.
When we pulled back the curtains we were docked on the right side to see the busy port in action. As well as a cruise port, it was busy with various ferries arriving. It was prime position to watch the choreographed ships movements.
It was a bit of a trek to walk into the city – it was hot and it was crowded with organised tours and people exploring under their own steam. There was no escaping the crowds.
As we were here on a weekend, it was probably busier than usual. The city was intriguing and if it was a little cooler, we would have loved to have spent more time exploring.
We went up on deck for sailaway
It was the Main Dining Room for dinner this evening. Callum had a dilemma when we got to the pudding course.
They had Crumble and a take on a Sticky Toffee Pudding. To our waiters, it was not a problem – they brought him BOTH puddings to try!
