At Sea – Bay of Biscay

Weather: Overcast at first, brightening up later
Sea Conditions: Flat

Bay of Biscay – Flat as a Pancake

Someone was awake bright and early this morning – 6.45am!  He was hungry but he had wait until 8am when the Main Dining Room opened (we didn’t fancy braving the first morning bundle in the buffet).  Callum tucked into a huge plate of bacon, sausage, fried egg and mushrooms.  He does it every time – he always ends up with twice as much bacon on his plate than Jon or I get!

Kids Club called after breakfast – today was Spy Day so Cluedo, magnifying glasses and clues were the main features of the day.

We opted for the Light Lunch – soup (Pea and Bean – very nice) and a salad.  Callum even managed a pudding.

We’re going on a Treasure Hunt … Frontiers let loose

Kids Club had a murder mystery adventure planned for the afternoon so Callum got very excited.  They were being taken around the ship hunting for clues – Mr Wallace did it, in the Playhouse (The Theatre) with a Sword!  They were singing everywhere they went so people had advance warning!

We decided to relax and read in the Planet Bar (Deck 18) and managed to get our favourite seats overlooking the length of Azura … and saw Frontiers as they climbed up to Deck 19 just in front of our seats.

Later on, the piano started playing and the sound of “I Like the Flowers, I like the Daffodils” echoing around us!  Thank goodness we’d chosen the right side of the bar to sit down in … and thank goodness they sang in tune (think most of the singers were Welsh!).

Just as we were about to leave to collect Callum for Kids tea, I spotted some dolphins at the front of the ship … Jon didn’t see them (bit like Dad’s Polar bear spotting!).

Tonight was formal night and the first batch of our weekly canapes arrived.  Jon wasn’t too keen on them … and Callum didn’t need to be asked twice to tuck in!

Canapes … Callum not impressed that they are for sharing

Jon and I had booked for Sindhu this evening – however we still timed the meal badly as we missed the Captain’s (Paul Brown) Speech.  Our waitress later told us that he announced that P&O’s new ship will be called Canberra which went down well with the old faithful! [Editted to say this was mis-information, she would be called Britannia].

Our meal in Sindhu was fabulous – we’d forgotten just how good the food was.  Jon and I were very predictable in our choices.  Chicken Tikka and Beef Skewers followed by Sea Bass and Lobster!  Pre dessert was chicken and pre-dessert was a Strawberry Sorbet.  We chose a bottle of wine from Wine from the Wickham Vineyards (Hampshire) and it was lovely.
