No swimming lesson this morning so tried to decide what to do on a free Saturday. Our first choice of heading to Didcot was crossed off the list as they weren’t running diesel engines this weekend, so thought we would head out to the Swindon & Cricklade Railway.

It was a very small station that ran a steam/diesel engine between two stations with the old carriages. To be honest, there isn’t an awful lot to see and we’d left it rather late in the day to get off at either end to do a bit of exploring.

The carriage we were in on the first journey was very reminiscent of the carriages in the Harry Potter films. A single corridor down one side of the carriage with compartments on the other seating 6 passengers with luggage racks above their heads.

Travelling back we were in the buffet carriage … although all the tables had been removed! Very spacious!! The luggage area was open to explore too … with someone ready to celebrate Halloween!

With a fair bit of the afternoon left, we thought we’d try and head into Swindon to either go to the Outlet Shopping Centre or the Great Western Museum. However, as we approached, they were queuing out the car park so decided to head back home instead.
We can never find our way back to Junction 15, so we were heading towards Junction 16 when Callum spotted an Indoor Crazy Golf place and decided that would be something fun to do. The Golfing Hole was on an industrial estate along with what looked to be a large soft play area. Car parking at these places is always very limited and this was no exception – we had timed our arrival well as someone was just leaving. It was really well done (even done to ensuring everyone has different colour balls to prevent arguments!) and it was actually really good fun with some rather tricky holes!

Golf finished, but still too early to think about food – there did seem to be some good restaurants in the area so will have to come back at some point.
In the end we decided to eat at Spice and were reminded about how good this place is!
