Our first visit down to Mottisfont, nr Romsey with friends.  During the summer holidays, they were running a Julia Donaldson trail.  Callum loved The Gruffalo and Room on a Broom when he was little, so it would be a trip down memory lane.

We bought trail maps for the kids and this would take up around the grounds searching for clues.  A few play areas along the way so the kids were very happy.

Our friends wanted to show us around the house.  As we approached, we saw a huge queue to go in.  We hadn’t realised Axel Schleffer (Julia Donaldson’s illustrator) was in the house for a meet and greet.  As a result the vast majority of rooms were closed to visitors as staff were redeployed to manage the queues.  A shame, but am sure we’ll be back for another visit.
