Wednesday 30th October
Today we were heading out to Prague Zoo. Breakfast at the hotel and we were soon heading off to find the Metro Station, hoping we’d remembered Jim’s instructions correctly.
We were walking into a part of Prague we hadn’t explored before. Callum was really looking forward to going on the Prague Metro! Thankfully it was all straightforward and the bus stop for the zoo was clearly signed and just outside the exit.
Lots of animals and birds to see. It was a little chilly so we did wonder how many we would see – some would be taking refuge out of the cold in their shelters.
Jim had explained that Praque Zoo had been flooded a couple of times and animals had been killed as a result. A lot of the enclosures had been moved up the hillside to protect them against something similar happening in future. The marker showed just how bad the worst two floods had been (Callum is about 175cm tall!)
We were really glad we had taken the time to visit the zoo and would recommend to anyone visiting, especially if they have kids.
The bus heading back was really crowded and more and more people kept squeezing in en route to the station. Metro back into the city and quick stomp back to the hotel.
Decision made on where to eat tonight – Callum would be eating in the Hard Rock Cafe – his first ever experience. I think Jon and I had only eaten once or twice before.
We booked a table as we thought it may be busy and we were right! We would have had to wait a while to get seated. Service was pretty efficient as they wanted the table back. Great music and quite loud! Big thumbs up from Callum for the burgers.
