Jon had a day off and we headed into London for the day. We’d booked tickets for Star Wars Identities at the O2 and we were looking forward to it.
We were running ahead of schedule so decided to have a wander around Canary Wharf and let Callum catch some Pokemon! We discovered there was a Museum of London that had a Crossrail exhibition on (until Sept 2017) and it featured some of the finds that had been unearthed during the excavation. Skeletons, pots, soles of shoes amongst other things. We didn’t have time to explore the rest of the museum but will try and call back at a later date.
We then headed over to the O2 and Star Wars Identities.

You need to book a timed slot and there didn’t seem to be many people hanging around. We were given a interactive wristband and an audio guide when we entered. First things first, we needed to activate the wristband. We needed to answer questions as we went around and our Star Wars Identity would be revealed at the end.

Various props, robots and models were assembled for the exhibition. Stormtroopers, C3PO, R2D2, BB8, and models of the Millenium Falcon, Tie-Fighters and ther space craft. Costumes from all the main characters in the films, with explanations of which films these were used in and other interesting facts.
It took just over an hour to go around and the Identities bit, was really well done (a couple more stations would have been helpful where the interaction was a bit more involved than just making a single decision (and typically, queuing is very much a British thing – everyone else just piles in regardless!).
More Star Wars memoribilia on display would have been nice – hopefully this is something they can develop.
Star Wars over and now time for something to eat. At the O2 was quite, we opted to eat here rather than head back into Central London. We chose Rodizio Rico – a Brazilian BBQ restaurant. Basically an all you can eat meat-feast – skewers of meat were brought out and sliced off onto your plate. 4 different types of beef, chicken wings, chicken wrapped in bacon, ribs, pork loin, lamb and chicken hearts. Callum wanted to try the chicken hearts and really enjoyed it. Jon was really brave and decided to give it a go … and was very nearly ill … a texture thing apparently!
Really good value (especially as they only charged Callum the kids price in spite of eating as much as we did!).
We headed back to Central London via the Thames Clipper – just over a hour to get back to Embankment going via the river. From here we walked through St James Park to Buckingham Palace, then through Green Park to Green Park tube station and back to Paddington. Yes, more Pokemon hunting on the way back!
All in all another great day out.
