Jon read that Bonnie & Clyde were taking to the stage and really wanted to go and booked tickets for us all. However he didn’t read the full title of the play – it was in fact Bonnie & Clyde: The Musical.
We headed towards Leicester Square to have a look around and grab a bite to eat. China Town was looking good with all the lanterns suspended above the street. We’d noticed some film related statues had been dotted around Leicester Square – a nod the premieres that have been held at the cinemas here.
Jon had seen the chain Burger & Lobster on previous visits into London and wanted to eat there. Luckily they had a table free. The food was plentiful but very expensive for what it was. Probably won’t be rushing back!
Bonnie and Clyde was running at the Arts Theatre – probably the smallest theatre I’d ever been to in London. Cosy!
No sooner than we’d entered the theatre, it became apparent we must have been the only ones in the audience that were seeing the musical for the very first time. Everyone else had seen it multiple times … and as this was their last day of the run at this theatre, everyone wanted tickets. It was like we were gate-crashing someone else’s party!
Verdict: Jon couldn’t understand why everything had to be sung although Callum and I both quite enjoyed it. The songs were pretty catchy!
