Sea Day
Weather: Sunny
Sea: Calm

Our second sea day and once again when the curtains were pulled back, we saw it was another lovely sunny day with seas as flat as a pancake.
We headed down to breakfast 10 minutes earlier than yesterday and it made all the difference. We were sat straight away with another couple and a chap.
After breakfast, mum headed up to the Crows Nest and the three of us headed to Champions for the Quiz. A Themed Quiz on World famous brands.
Didn’t do too badly. 15/20 with the winners getting 17. Tie breaker was guess how old Estelle was. Guesses of 26 and 24. She was 22. Oh, and she was was Liverpool but lives in Newcastle for 5 years hence Jon’s Geordie radar was still in working order!

Jon and Callum headed off to play Table tennis, shuffleboard and tennis whilst I sat and read in Pennants Bar overlooking the wake.
Prawn baguettes were on the luncheon menu in Medina so we headed there for lunch. The Crispy Chicken burger with Swiss Cheese and sweet chilli sauce took Callum’s fancy. We shared a table with another two couples. One of them was sharing a table at dinner with someone on the coach that had a nightmare journey. Not only had the coach broken down, the replacement bus developed a fault and could only travel at 20mph. Meanwhile, someone on the bus has fainted and an ambulance was called. Eventually she got some fresh air and was able to continue. The broken down coach was repaired and caught up with the other coach at Northampton and eventually got into Southampton a couple of hours late. As well as passengers for Aurora, there were passengers for Arvia too.
One of the ladies on the table also played pickleball for the first time today. She ended up being partnered with an expert who kept getting frustrated with her for not knowing the rules!! Watch out for the man in orange trainers!
We managed to find a table at the back of Champions in the corridor for the music quiz … 30 out of 40 for us with the winners on 39.
That was shortly followed by the themed quiz … An eggheads style themes quiz. We got 15/20 … But we did mark the winning teams paper!
Back to the cabin to chill and finish off the game of Carcassonne we started earlier in Champions (Callums turn to win) then to catch up with my book and must admit, my eyes kept closing!

The menu didn’t sound the best in Medina this evening. We arrived abt 7.20 and told a 30-45min wait. In reality, there was just enough time to order drinks in Anderson’s to take down to dinner.
Starters … Mum and Jon had tomato soup, Callum the Oxtail risotto and I had the Duck pate.
Mains we all all chose differently. Callum the steak, mum the veal, Jon the lemon sole and I had the chicken. It was a little on the dry side as there was no sauce.
Puddings were a very weird selection. Mum stuck with vanilla ice cream and the rest of us the cheese plate.
The first Euros semi final was being shown in a couple of places. Callum poked his head into the Playhouse and Spain had just taken a 2-1 lead after 25 mins.
We ended up in The Glass House again. Mum and I chose a very nice Rose (White Zinfandel).

Back up to Horizon afterwards for the Syndicate Quiz hosted by Ned. The sun was setting and Aurora was starting to turn into Sognefjord. Just as the sun was about to set, a Royal Caribbean cruise ship passed in between us and the sun. We thought for a moment it would block our view of the sunset but never fear.
Jon and Callum saw the sun turn green and the green flash. Even though I was watching, I couldn’t see it!
We ended the quiz on 11 points … which was actually 2nd place. We were joint second initially but the other team were deducted a point as they won last night.

Midnight buffet and Jon spotted they were serving Hot Chocolate. We grabbed a couple of sandwiches and took a mug of hot chocolate back to the cabin. We walked back via the outer decks as the ship was entering the fjord and it looked quite dramatic with the orange sky behind the rock formations.

Bed at midnight … Skjolden awaits tomorrow.
