A half term treat for Callum today. Jon had seen a new Star Wars Virtual Reality experience, The Void, advertised at Westfields Shopping Centre in Shepherds Bush and had booked tickets for Callum and himself.
We were getting the train in, but just as we were about to leave the house, Jon checked the trains online and our train was cancelled. Next train in 30 mins – hopefully we’d still have enough time to get to Shepherds Bush.

Thankfully we did and were on our way to Westfield in no time.
The shopping centre is huge and we hadn’t a clue where to go when we got there … and neither did the security guards we asked! We eventually found it. I settled down in a coffee shop, whilst the boys went to play with VR stuff!
AWESOME was the response when the boys finished. It cost £30-ish per ticket for a 20 mins experience. Battery back back donned and VR headset. Step inside The Void and you are wearing a Storm Trooper outfit. Smells, sounds and heat – you could almost believe it’s real.

VR technology has come a long way and I have two boys that want to do this again!

After Westfields, we hopped back on the tube and headed over to Covent Garden to grab a bite to eat. We weren’t sure where we were heading but there’s plenty of choice. We jumped off at Leicester Square and decided to walk there instead of changing tubes again. As we were walking past, we saw a sign for Cantina Laredo – an independent Mexican Restaurant near Seven Dials and had been highly recommended by my friend, Sue.

The food was really good – Jon and Callum both made a good choice and went for Fajitas and Jon raved about the guacamole. They had a special menu and your waiter would mix it up tableside. It’s somewhere we’ll go back to – so thank you for the recommendation, Sue!
From here we headed back to Leicester Square. Someone wanted to go the M&M store (couldn’t wait to share this experience with Jon!!) and it was packed. Callum made a bee-line for the massive tubes and part-filled a bag. In fairness, he said he was going to buy these out of his own money.
Right behind the M&M store is China Town – a walk through smelling all the wonderful food being cooked up and the boys headed home happy!
