My second visit to Welford this year with friends. This time, I was experimenting with a glass sphere to see what effects it generates. Sphere plus sun doesn’t quite work – I think bright but cloudy.
We’d had a fair bit of rain to date, but the estate do maintain the paths really well, putting mulch down to preserve the paths and keep them relatively mud-free. Part of the path around the main snowdrop wasn’t suitable for wheelchairs or buggies, but the majority of paths were accessible.
The trees around here were laden with mistletoe, although predominantly out of reach – so high up.

We made our way back to the house via the tea-tent for a cuppa and slice of cake. It was really busy inside as several coach parties were visiting.

Before heading home, we wandered through the gardens and also through to the church – there’s a door in the walls that connects the estate to the church yard.

The snowdrop opening raising a huge fund-raiser for local charities and understand that a lot of locals give up their time volunteering to ensure visitors are welcomed.
Thank you Welford, and look forward to returning next year.
