Sea Day
Seas: Flat
Weather: Foggy and/or overcast
Pretty much deja vu today. The second sea day of the cruise and pretty much the same as the first. Seas as flat as a pancake and we kept running into the occasional fog bank – cue Fog Horn sounding!

As we were up early in Bergen, we said to Mum and Ann not to expect us for breakfast as we were having a lie-in! We didn’t manage to sleep in that late but headed up to the buffet for breakfast and Callum was happy. He prefers the buffet to the Main Dining Room … presumably as he can go back for multiple top-ups!
Being the last full day on-board, alas this also meant we needed to pack. We headed back to the cabin to make a head-start … before heading down to the Glass House to meet Mum and Ann for lunch. The lovely Glass House waiters found us a large round table in a section set aside for diners. The view onto the outside balcony showed us it was raining … and still pretty foggy.

A really lovely last lunch on board. I had prawns, chicken and hot smoked salmon scotch egg as did Callum, Mum and Ann. Jon opted for a Thai Beef Salad, Prawns and Scallops – great choice with the Beef!
After lunch, we went to watch the P&O Quiz “Pursuit” – their version of The Chase. A little bit of handbags at dawn as one passenger objected to the fact they had chosen the contestants a couple of minutes before the published start time … so he couldn’t take part. It was good fun to watch and not taken seriously at all with Jo helping the contestants (as were the audience!) No surprise that the The Pursuitor was beaten and the three contestants won a very special bottle of P&O House Wine.
Back to the cabin to finish off packing. Everything went into the cases far too easily so I was left wondering what I had forgotten!
Our cabin was C735 – an aft cabin right at the back of the ship with views over the wake. We loved it and would happily have this cabin again. It was one of the more expensive balcony cabins as it had a sofa bed … but a cheaper option than booking a superior deluxe balcony on Azura.

The balcony was a good size, although it does tend to get soot landing on the balcony and seats so be careful when you sit down. We just took the blue towels out with us which worked fine. The cabin steward does wash these balconies down of a morning which helps.

The bathroom at first glance was compact – but had a lovely large walk in shower with glass screens (no being attacked by shower curtains!)

Like on Azura, there is a walk in wardrobe outside the bathroom with some shelves although this feels narrower than on Azura.

Britannia is a pretty long ship – sadly though, you cannot stand at one end of the corridor and look right down to the other end. It jiggles around at the front, so you only see down about 2/3rds of the length of the ship. Still pretty long though.

Two cases left outside before we met Ann and Mum in the Glass House for pre-dinner drinks. I had my final glass of Peller Ice for the cruise … and Jon his final glass of the French Rose he’s discovered.
Down to dinner and we said our farewells to our waiters, Negi and Shiva. Whilst Ann and Mum disappeared to the Crows Nest, we went to our last Syndicate Quiz. A bit of a weird one – the quiz master missed off our credit for one answer … only to give us a mark for a question we got wrong. We did own up and ended up as joint winners with our friendly rivals. Tie Break situation. First question – how many episodes of Fawlty Towers were made. Both teams correctly answered 12.
Both teams pleaded that the next tie break was NOT a which decade (we were both rubbish at these!) … so we got the question, in which year did Sandy Shaw win Eurovision with Puppet on a String? Jon thought it was 1968 and I thought it was 1964 … Callum got the deciding vote. The other team guessed 1957 and as the year was 1967. either of our answers would have won the prize. Impressive guess/answer from Jon, just one year out.
Our prize was a bottle of wine … no chance to drink it this evening as we were driving home the next day so we asked if the prize could be given to the losing team the following night. Great friendly rivalry with Alex, Claire and the language teacher and her mum though. We were the only two teams that supported the quiz every night and we had a some great banter. The language teacher taught French and Italian in a Japanese School near Eastbourne which came in very handy for a couple of questions. She even helped Callum with his French Homework … and tried to get his pronunciation on track! Thank you!!
