Callum and I spent a fabulous day at the British Wildlife Centre. Here, you get to see a whole load of animals native to the British Isles. Some are animals that have been rescued – they simply wouldn’t survive out in the wild.
It was fantastic to see Red Squirrels once again – I remember seeing these as a child, but more recently, it’s all about the grey squirrels. The red squirrel enclosure gave the squirrels loads of room to explore and they bound around like mad. Callum got jumped on briefly and we kept wandering around and coming back to see what they were up to.
We were really lucky to see the adder … and thanks to an eagle-eyed local, there was a baby adder nestled in the logs.
The Centre organise talks every half hour on one of the animals so you get to learn more about them.
Callum loved it … and wants to go back soon.
