Sea Day
Sea: Calm
Weather: Sunny
A lie in this morning – again, we’d missed breakfast in the MDR, so up to the buffet we went. Really quiet once more and loads of free tables. Afterwards we found a table by the rails in Java and I had a coffee and Callum a Hot Chocolate and another couple of games of Carcassone. Again, Callum and I won one game each.

We then dropped everything back into the cabin and thought we might sit out on the balcony. That lasted all of 5 minutes. The balcony was in full sun and it was too hot to sit out.
In the end, we managed to find a couple of comfy seats by the lido deck so we chilled there instead. We did take part in the Jukebox Heroes Quiz run by DJ Phil and scored 30/40 – not bad (the winners scored 39). A couple of slices of pizza would tide us over for lunch before heading down to the Syndicate Quiz. 36 teams were taking part today. Callum had to chose our number – we were team 13 today!!

We started off pretty well and had only got 2 out of 15 questions wrong – we were joint top of the leaderboard at this stage with team 12. Disaster hit and we didn’t get another questions right – but neither had team 12 … but, another two teams had caught us up. 4 way tie to decide the winners. The question was in what year was the British Museum founded.
Callum thought it was 1868 so we went with him (as good a guess as any) and the other teams went with 1874, 1881 and 1923. The actual year was 1759 so even though we were over a hundred years out, we won by virtue of being closest and took home home the bottle of house red!!
As it was a sea day, this was our second formal night. Granny had leant out Grandad’s DJ and Callum opted to wear this tonight. We had booked tickets to see Astonishing – the Steven Mulhern show – performed by the Headliners Theatre Company. Jon (again!) wasn’t too convinced but went with us as Callum and I both wanted to see it. As we entered the theatre, we were all given an envelope and told to hang onto it until the appropriate time.

It was pretty well done – and Jon thought it was OK.
After the show, we went to get a table – we were given a buzzer and went to wait in the Blue Bar. Drinks had just arrived when the buzzer went off so headed to our table. The meal was a little bizzare … there were a few other tables seated by us and we all arrived and ordered at similar times. If you remember the Morecambe & Wise / Andre Previn sketch where he played all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order … well, the meals and serving was in this vein. All the right meals but not necessarily served to the right people!! A bit of swapping plates and all sorted … and thankfully those of us affected all saw the funny side of it. The waiters were getting a little frustrated by chaos they had caused!!

As with all Celebration Nights onboard P&O, Brodies were running a James Bond quiz. Usually very popular and this cruise was no different. A good range of questions and some really hard. We ended up with 29 / 36 points … not too bad but we do need to watch the more recent Bond Films. We’d only seen Daniel Craig in Skyfall and No Time to Die!
After Brodies, we headed up to one of our favourite spots onboard – the Sunset Bar. Armed with Kindles we sat out overlooking the wake … well, no real wake to speak off as we were barely moving and sea was like glass.
