Stockholm, Sweden
Sea: Calm
Weather: Cloudy first thing, brightening up during the day
We were up at 6.30am this morning and Britannia had already started her sail through the Archipelago towards Stockholm. The sea was calm but the clouds were low and it was a little damp in the air.
We sailed passed so many little islands, some inhabited and must be a very tranquil life (apart from the odd cruise ship sailing by first thing in the morning). We did wonder how they got around, but saw a couple of ferry type vehicles traversing the islands.

As we neared Stockholm, the cloud was starting to lift and sun started to peek through. We wouldn’t have long to explore Stockholm – fingers crossed, passengers could start going ashore from 9am and everyone had to be back onboard for 3pm. Allow for shuttle buses, this was really only 5 hours absolute max. to explore.

The one thing Callum wanted to do in Stockholm was visit the ABBA Museum, however, due to the short time we were in port, we wouldn’t have time to do this and wander around the city itself. Callum agreed. I had downloaded a self-guided walking tour of Stockholm before we went from Nomad Epicureans and our plan was to follow this to try and see as many of the sights as possible.
As the ship was getting ready to dock in Stockholm, we dived up to the buffet for breakfast – it would take an hour or so for the captain to get the ship alongside and then get clearance for passengers to disembark. We were off the ship by 9.30am and after a short wait for a shuttle, we were in town by 10am, drop off point was close to the Parliament Buildings. Oh, Newcastle were in action away at Brighton today, so Newcastle tops were a must!!

Stockholm is a stunning city – ornate buildings around every corner along with some very quirky buildings and narrow alleys. A real shame we didn’t have more time to explore. We did though manage to find time for a local beer though!

Marten Trotzigs Grand – Stockholm’s narrowest street. It measures a mere 90cm at its narrowest point!
By this point, Callum just had to try the local ice cream!!

We were back onboard by 2pm-ish and just enough time to grab a bite to eat before today’s Syndicate Quiz. Alex and Rachel were running this today – 18 teams taking part and we finished 2= with 18/21 points. After the quiz, it was a case of hot-footing it to the Sunset Bar as we had started to sailaway from Stockholm. Just stunning!

Dinner this evening would be in The Glass House – Callum just had to try another of the dessert tasting plates!
