Sea Day
Weather: Overcast and cold / afternoon fog / Force 6 winds
Sea: Slight
Clocks went back an hour overnight … just a shame I couldn’t sleep to make the most of it! Callum managed to fall asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow … Jon had a better night’s sleep. The seas were a little more lively this morning … you could feel the ship move about a little. Jon was feeling optimistic he might get the rough seas he craved!
Gave mum a knock for breakfast at 8.25 and again, we were just ahead of the rush. Our server this morning was Queen Mary!
After breakfast we headed to Champions for the themed quiz. Apparently Ned’s favourite quiz on bears. We got 16 … Joint top with 5 others. Tie breaker was when the bear we’d never heard of was launched. We guessed 1982 … Correct answer was 1985 … Another team were 1 off so close but no cigar.
We had sat in one of the booths by the windows … And whilst we finished our game of Carcassonne, you could feel the cold coming in through the window. People walking the prom deck were wearing thick coats and jumpers.
We also saw the fog had come in and when we got back to our cabin to grab our hoodies, you could hear the ships fog horn been sounded. The seas were rolling the ship steadily from side to side. Force 6 winds so the ships information screen … Seas slight.
We wandered down to the back of the ship .. it was cold enough so you could see your breath. It would be a lazy afternoon … the top decks were shut off due to the winds.
The fog was with us most of the afternoon. Then as if someone had snapped their fingers, it lifted.
Mum had her Caribbean lunch today which she enjoyed, although a few passengers left early as they were feeling unwell due to the ships motion.
We headed to Medina for dinner tonight and shared a table with a couple from Romsey. Nice meal tonight – Callum and Karen had the Indonesian Chicken starter whilst Mum and Jon had Tomato Soup. For mains … Jon & Karen had the Mahi Mahi fish, Callum the Guinea Fowl and Mum the Avocado. It was even puddings all around! Chocolate Fondants for Callum, Karen & Mum and a New York Cheesecake for Jon.
Afterwards a drink in Anderson’s. We timed it well as passengers left to head to second sitting.
We finished the evening up in Horizon for the Syndicate Quiz. We were in inspired form tonight – finishing on 11 points, just one off the leaders. Callum raided the midnight buffet whilst we all took Hot Chocolate (Ovaltine in Jon’s case) back to the cabin.
